How to mirror the video
If your own picture looks "flipped" to you, that's almost always normal — and usually a good thing. Here's what's going on.
FaceReady's preview is mirrored on purpose
The preview inside FaceReady is mirrored, so it reads like a normal selfie or a bathroom mirror — move your right hand and the hand on the right of the screen moves. That's the view most people find natural to set their look against.
Your call view is mirrored, but the other people aren't seeing that
Here's the part that trips everyone up. Most video apps — Zoom, Teams, Meet — mirror your own self-view by default. So the little picture of you looks flipped to you. But the people on the call see you the right way round. This is why text on a poster behind you looks backwards in your own preview, yet reads perfectly to everyone else.
Quick rule: if only your own self-view looks mirrored, you don't need to do anything — your call looks correct to everyone else. The mirror is just for you.
Want to turn the self-view mirror off?
That mirror setting lives in your video app, not in FaceReady. In Zoom it's under Video settings as "Mirror my video"; other apps have a similar toggle. Turn it off there if you'd rather see yourself the way the call sees you — it won't change what anyone else sees.
