How to install and set up FaceReady on Windows
The whole thing takes about a minute, and you only do it once. Here's every step.
Run the installer
- Download FaceReady and run the installer you downloaded. It's signed by Trucode Ltd, so Windows can see exactly who made it.
- When the installer asks for permission, click Yes. That one click does the important bit — it registers the FaceReady camera for your whole PC. There's no System Settings toggle to find afterwards, and no restart.
On an ARM laptop? You're covered. FaceReady ships native builds for both regular x64 PCs and ARM machines like Snapdragon laptops, and the installer picks the right one for you automatically.
If you see "Windows protected your PC"
On the first run you might get a blue SmartScreen box that says "Windows protected your PC". That's not an error and it doesn't mean anything's wrong. SmartScreen shows it for newer apps until enough people have installed them, and it fades over time.
- Click More info.
- Then click Run anyway.
Pick FaceReady in your video app
In Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, Slack, Discord — any video app — open its video settings and choose FaceReady as the camera. You're on camera, looking your best.
FaceReady not in the list? Video apps read their camera list when they start. If a video app was already open while you installed, quit it completely and reopen it — FaceReady then shows up in its camera menu. More on this in camera isn't showing.
Got more than one webcam?
FaceReady uses your built-in camera automatically. If you'd rather use an external webcam, open Settings → Use camera in FaceReady and pick it there.
