Stuck setting up on Mac — re-enable the camera extension
If setup won't move past the camera step, it's almost always the camera extension switch. Here's how to get it going again, easiest fix first.
1. Confirm the switch is actually on
In FaceReady, click Open System Settings. That takes you straight to Login Items & Extensions. Find FaceReady and make sure its switch is on. FaceReady checks the moment you flip it and should carry on by itself.
Not sure where this is? Where's the camera extension? walks through it.
2. If it's on but setup is still stuck, toggle it
Sometimes the switch shows as on but the extension hasn't connected properly. The fix is to turn the FaceReady switch off, then back on. That nudges macOS to load it fresh, and setup usually moves along straight after.
3. Last resort: a full reinstall
If toggling doesn't do it, a clean reinstall clears a confused extension and sets everything up from scratch. Follow how to do a full reinstall on Mac — it's a few minutes and it sorts the stubborn cases.
