How to install and set up FaceReady on Mac
Setting up takes about a minute, and you only do it once. Here's the whole thing.
Install it
- Double-click the FaceReady installer you downloaded and click through it — it puts FaceReady in your Applications folder for you. (macOS asks for your Mac's password, the same as any installer.)
- Open FaceReady from Applications (or Spotlight).
- When macOS asks, allow camera access. FaceReady needs your webcam to work on it.
Turn on the FaceReady camera
FaceReady adds itself as a camera every video app can use. macOS asks you to switch it on once — and FaceReady does the hard part for you, so it's two clicks:
- When FaceReady first runs, macOS shows an "Open System Settings" button — click it. (Missed it? Click Open System Settings on FaceReady's setup screen.)
- It takes you straight to the right page — just flip the FaceReady switch on.
That's it. FaceReady notices the moment you switch it on and moves itself along — no restart, no digging through menus.
Why the switch? macOS won't let any app — or any installer — add a camera to your Mac without you approving it once yourself. It's the same one-time step for every camera app, and it's there to keep cameras off your Mac unless you put them there.
Sign in and choose your look
Sign in with your email, then design your look with the sliders. Your free trial starts here, and your account follows you to any Mac you sign in on.
Pick FaceReady in your video app
In Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, Slack — any video app — open its video settings and choose FaceReady as the camera. That's it: you're on camera, looking your best.
FaceReady not in the list? Video apps read their camera list when they start. If the app was already open while you installed, quit it completely and reopen it — FaceReady then appears in its camera menu. More on this in camera isn't showing.
Got more than one webcam?
FaceReady uses your built-in camera automatically. If you have an external webcam you'd rather use, open Settings → Use camera in FaceReady and pick it there.
